We watched two of our all-time favorite, long-standing and well-known restaurants close within a year amidst a lively city that loved them, and knew something needed to change…
AreaFavs Exists to help small restaurant owners to market + connect with the right audience & do so in an affordable way.
Statistically, most Americans enjoy trying new restaurants, but there’s thing called “decision fatigue” that stops people from going through the process of deciding at all due to overwhelm of options and details. If you’ve ever tried to compare a few restaurants by reading several reviews of each, you probably know exactly what we’re talking about here! Reviews can be old, highly biased, and often not relevant for what we’d go to a restaurant for; rendering them unreliable. We knew we needed to build marketing options that provide all necessary details without overwhelm that leads to “analysis paralysis” which meant we had to achieve reduction in what users see.
To accomplish that goal we decided to rely on polls in lieu of reviews and only allow for restaurant-approved photos so people know what restaurants expect them to expect, because where unmet expectations is reduced, customer satisfaction can flourish. AreaFavs also focuses solely on small restaurants that exist in their area to reduce what “new” means and increases the chances people will find a new restaurant. In addition to listings per menu/cateogry type, we also offer QR codes that lead to a page dedicated to that specific restaurant, which we expect in time will go from “what’s this?” to seeking restaurants that share this info the more it gains popularity when choosing.
We know many people travel domestically more often than they try choose a new restaurant, and we’re here to change that one city at a time.
